Les principaux défis incluent la prise en charge des patients gériatriques, la coordination avec une équipe pluridisciplinaire, et la contribution au développement des pratiques médicales de l'établissement. Les candidats doivent posséder un diplôme en médecine avec une spécialisation en gériatrie, et bénéficier d'une expérience significative dans le domaine.
